Hi Aaron and welcome to FADU. On the few occasions I have even handled a digital my impression was that the basics in terms of aperture, shutter-speed etc was much the same so there is every reason why you should produce acceptable pics with your Canons from the start.
At the risk of insulting your intelligence, I'd recommend getting the instructions books for both models if you don't have them. In the white-hot heat and sun of Nottingham now we are in Spring I'd recommend a 400 speed film as a good all rounder. However until we know more about the extent of your knowledge the above advice may be ABC stuff which you are already beyond Let us know what you think the difficulties will be with the Canons and film usage and we can try and supply good advice. Hi all
Mike first thing i did was download the manuals on my phone as i couldn't open the back cover on the T50 :-), i have purchased two films, ilford b/w iso 400 and kodak colour iso 400,just to give it ago at first and see what results i get. I am hoping to do a mixture of shoots like urban, landscape and motorsport and maybe some long exposure. My knowledge is limited as i have not been using cameras capable of manual control for very long.

Thanks Aaron. I think you will be fine. It might be tiresome but I'd keep records of aperture, shutter-speed, light conditions apertaining to each neg.
You will I think be well rewarded for such actions. Looking at each neg against the info recorded will tell you a lot. As you will already have worked out, analogue photography's feedback loop is slow and it might be days or weeks before you find out which shots were exposed ideally. Mike |
