Actually from experience you're all underestimating.
As Import Duty is levied on the item and Postage (shipping) and then VAT on that sub-total, plus the delivery charge you are looking at around 33% to 35%. Import duty is I think 6.7% on lenses, and VAT is 20%, delivery charge to collect the taxes is around £8. I haven't kept any Customs documents but the 33% to 35% figure is what I've paid a few times from the US and Japan is no different. Gone are the days when I never got any charges they've really tightened up in the last 4-5 years. I tend to buy from the EU as then there's no Taxes. Ian |
