Final Chapter - well not quite.
I spent a couple of hours in the darkroom last night and made a 12x 16 print of the a subject inside the Galilee Chapel of Durham Cathedral, It was printed on some of the last sheets of Kentmere Fineprint that I have.
The subject was in a high contrast situation with tall church windows (not stained glass) and the partial silhouette of a carved wooden bust. To make sure detail was printed in the window highlights the shadows (which had little detail were out of focus anyway) went were printed in deep shadow. All in all the final print was fine. This morning when I looked at the dry print in daylight it was clear that even Kentmere Fineprint could not get a true black. I always thought Kentmere Fineprint was better than MG4 anyway, but it is not a patch on Ilford MG5. |

Sounds like yet more proof that MG5 is a real improvement over both the others that you mention, John

Yes, it is a very definite improvement on any Ilford RC that has bee before, it is rare that I use anything else these days
