Default extension tubes

i may buy a extension tube its for medium format and its a 34mm and i want to use it on my 150mm lens for close up portrait shots ,has anybody used a 34mm extension on a 150mm lens for portraits and is it OK to use .

Hi JOReynolds no its for my rolleiflex ,i have a 16mm extenson tube with my hasselblad and i use it on my 150mm sonnar hasselblad lens . this one i just bought is a 34mm for my rolleiflex to use with my 150 rolleiflex lens ,its is also a sonnar lens ..

I'd check how close you can get with just the standard camera and lens set up.

My RB67 will get you to almost a head shot filling the frame.

I'm sure the Rollei would do something similar.

Extension tubes tend to be used for almost macro work.

it came the other day so I have had a little play ,and on my 150mm lens I can get the whole of the face in, filling the frame up ,I can focus from the film plane 30"up to 40",with the 150mm lens, and with the 80mm lens I can focus from 14"up to 16" and get some of the palm of my hand .the camera has a great metering system in it so I have no trouble with ambient light ,but with flash should I open the aperture by one stop or two ,its a 34" extension tube .

I think it’s less than one stop for both, Paul. Could you meter the same scene in daylight with tube on and off, and note the difference? You could try that for both lenses. Presumably the difference will be the same for each lens whether it is daylight or flash.
