Many, many thanks for your comments Buzz and it's good to see that you received them in the expected time frame.

As said, the satin surface in RC is not very popular, having read comments about it over the years, but I do wonder how many of these people, like yourself, have never seen it yet, but go along with the crowd and so don't purchase some to try. RC Pearl has been my most used paper for decades but I felt like a change a while ago now, so bought some RC satin and some FB matt, both of which I use more regularly and l like both of them very much. I've also recently purchased some of the new MGV RC paper in both pearl and satin and there really is a difference between MGV and MGIV.

I'll get the pictures into the gallery asap.

I particularly like the contrast between the rock and the nicely graduated mid-tones in the rest of the image. The crispness of the rock is helped by this and the use of 120 FP4 and a Rodinal clone methinks (and a good lens of course).

My tendency is to ask of my test prints: "Is it too dark"? And the answer is almost always - "Nah - needs more shadow... and contrast...!". I think you made the much better decision here .

Cheers, Bob.

The print is of a photograph in some woods with patches of sunlight which Rob has toned in copper toner to control the extreme contrast. This it has done most successfully and giving the print a very pleasant copper tone. It really captures the atmosphere of the sunlit wood.

I should be more adventurous and experiment with toning which I tend not to do because of idleness and lack of artistic imagination.

Thanks, Rob.

Mike

And the two prints are now in there - with others as well by the time you read this.

Thank you Bob, glad you liked it. I know what you mean about darkness and contrast, particularly with landscape shots - I'm as guilty as you most of the time but on this occasion the scene seemed to lend itself to a lighter touch.

I'll upload it to the gallery.

Cheers,
Michael

Well received today!
A nice pair of photos of one of my very favourite subjects: sailing boats! The Optimist shows the whole scenery nicely while the Splash competition is an excellent picture of a regatta. I like them very much.
Spent 2 of my best weeks during a sailing course, but later never lived close enough to water. Cannot happen to Dutch people. :-)
Thanks, Sebastiaan!

Good to hear they arrived and glad you like them!
It's always a gamble whether the subject will be of the recipient's interest, one of the joys in the print exchange I think.
I'll upload them to the gallery.

Yesterday I go a large enveloppe with three beautiful pribts form Richard Gould. The sujets are from the Channel Islands: The ruins of Gronez Castle, the Pinnacle rock and and a remnant of the occupation years.

I have never been there, not even take a journey to that islands into account. That is a shame. I set thes island at my journey list.

Thank you for that prints! I was pleased to read that you use a medium format camera, a Bronica ETRSi.
