About the same of making one of anything else I guess, or maybe just to see if it could be done. Actually I rather like it.

I had assumed that you'd see more of exactly what he was doing with an instructional commentary or maybe subtitles but I was probably expecting too much.

What he was conveying was much more abstract - a feeling almost.

It was a bit like watching a painter. You see what he/she is doing and can appreciate the skill but as you watch you are none the wiser as to how the artist actually does it.

Beauty in in the eye of the beholder.
All imagery is subjective.
I find it quite stimulating.

Thanks for your comments ;-) Miha, this print was a order for an art gallery. I prefer small prints, my favourite size is 25x25 cm, but orders are orders and I need to be ready for whatever size.

What I find interesting is the fact that whenever you see these types of promotional films they always seem to be dodging or burning in. If you photograph something with the correct lighting ratio for the film you are using and get the exposure and development right, this is often not necessary.

Hi Rubén - no hard feelings I hope. If someone if putting his work on display it is there to be judged. And there are so many great photos from your portfolio to choose from - like your Cuban portraits - that could be included in your video instead of the "rusty stairs" in my opinion. And as Jon said "Beauty is in the eye of beholder" - I'm merely expressing my view which, I hope, I'm entitled to.

Perhaps with subdued lighting and a wish to reproduce an exact record of the scene this may be the case but if you wish to create something beyond a straight record then dodging and burning are your tools. Artists always start with a clean sheet but how many of the successful ones produce an exact copy of the scene or subject of their choice? They put in something extra which is unique to them. Why shouldn't photographers do the same?
