Latest news from the UK newspaper Daily Mail online about halogen bulbs.

Next week is the UK deadline.

Cheers.

Yes but it still isn't clear from that newspaper report and frankly is never likely to be clear from a newspaper report that this applies to enlarger bulbs as well.

Uwe has said that enlarger bulbs, being specialist bulbs are exempt and certainly the design of my Durst bulb is quite different from that of any halogen bulb I have seen for normal household lighting

Has anyone checked this out with any of their stockists' of enlarger bulbs

Frankly if stockists of halogen enlarger bulbs are committing an offence by selling these post end of September then I am up the creek without a paddle as I cannot simply substitute a LED bulb for my halogen as the fitting is quite different. It matters not a jot that I may only want to do b&w prints. Unlike b&w Durst enlargers I simply cannot screw a ES LED substitute in its place

Maybe there will be specialist vendors who will stock up on these special use lamps.

Recently I bought a set of thermionic valves (tubes) for my stereo preamplifier. I don't know when manufacture ended but there are niche suppliers catering for the minority of enthusiasts.

There may be 'specialist' vendors who may stock up but look what happened with mercury batteries back around the turn of the century one day they were there then next they were gone, it was illegal to sell them! Thanks EU!
That news clip refers to spotlights not specialist bulbs. More specifically in the earlier post by Bob Smith is mentions spotlights used in kitchens. They will be with us for many years yet. I fitted a new security spotlight 6 years ago and as a precaution bought a pack of 4 spares. I have only replaced one and that was due to a low flying pigeon hitting it in flight. I have had a look at photographic suppliers who sell darkroom equipment and they still have them openly on sale and no mention that they will be becoming unavailable.

Panic buying anyone? I think the military have other more pressing engagements with deliveries.

Remember we can still get tungsten bulbs for our enlargers, even though they were "banned" some years ago.

There is always provision in the regulations for specialist applications - like enlargers.

Just how many percent of total sales do you think enlarger sales makes up ?
