Default Ektachrome

e-mail from Analogue Wonderland a few minutes ago, to tell me that Ektachrome is now being distributed and is on its way across the Atlantic. Due here in a couple of weeks.

Make of that what you will.

I think it will certainly arrive but at what price will be interesting and whether the sales worldwide will justify the cost of its resurrection remains to be seen. I am doubtful

I think Kodak have done this on the likelihood in its mind that slides will in the near future be discontinued by Fuji so it will have the monopoly.

The U.S. seems to have a love-hate relationship with Kodak based on comments I have seen on Photrio. If Kodak abandons Ektachrome again then goodness knows how how the U.S. users will react. Very badly I suspect.

Firstcall have it listed at £13.99, which is cheaper than Velvia (16.99) and on a par with other Fuji slide film,

I know that the £ has lost some ground to the $ since Brexit but the U.S. prices seem to be between $11 and $13. That is a ridiculous gulf in price

I only ever shot a few slide films back in the day when all photography was an adventure for me but at those prices I don't ever see me returning to slides
