Default The Old FP3 'Challenge'

Sent a cassette of October 1952 dated ILFORD FP3 with the 'Challenge' to see what I could get out of it. I decided to try 2 Geoffrey Crawley Formulae that I use ; FX-4 and 'Acutol-S FX15. Crawley invented the famous 'ACUTOL' but that formula has never ben released. I did a short length test first using a Weston Master V with 'Incident Light' starting at 100 ASA and got a reading of 12-13 so 1/60th @ f16. So I kept 1/60th and went all the way to f1.4 and 'Guessed' 9 mins @ 20oC in FX-4 1+1 -- Result : HUGE FOG level bu t IMAGES!
The best one was 1/60th @ f4 ie 10 ASA but 9 mins was over-developed so i CUT time to 7 mins -- you can see the whole Story Here :

I have a box of three '120' roll-films of FP3 (Best before 1972) although I suspect the date of manufacture probably mid to late 1960's. It came with my Rolleiflex TLR 2.8E.

I have never been brave enough to try a roll. Maybe one day I will order some Microphen and have a go. I suspect it will have lost a lot of speed and probably a lot of base fog, so a clean working developer that saves speed well will be needed. Good luck Pete.
