Default Hello from Leicestershire

I heard of the forum from B&W photography. I have been learning black and white for some time and will be still learning till my days end. Mostly now work with large format then I proccess in a Jobo and scan the negatives, I have a darkroom and tried printing but the chemicals gave me a bad reaction so gave it up. I am sure there will be much more to learn from this forum.
Richard

Welcome Richard from another that still has a lot to learn.

I also suffered from bad chemical reactions when I started printing, but managed to trace the cause to the chemical Metol which is used in some developers. Providing I don't use anything containing it I'm ok. There have been a number of discussions here on the subject which could be worth you reading.

Hi Richard and welcome. Sorry to hear about your problem with the chemicals. You may find a Nova Quad Processor solves the issue. With one of those it is possible to print without your hands coming into any contact whatsoever with the chemicals. It will even cut down the smell, should that contribute to the probelm due to its design.

Worth giving it a thought if you haven't already looked into using one. If it fails to solve the issue you are likely to be able to re-sell it for not much less or no less than you bought it for.

Here's hoping that the issue isn't unsurmountable.

Mike

Hello Richard!
I too am new here, and hope you enjoy all the useful stuff there is to learn.

I too have to scan my negs, but because my flat is only one room. I would give a lot to be able to have a darkroom so I hope you will be able to overcome the chemical problems. It would be so much more satisfying than scanning!

Derek
