Default Another 'Hello' from Wales

Hello from Cardiff.

I was pointed in the direction of this group by Sandeha Lynch and thought I should probably introduce myself.

I'm definitely in the enthusiastic amateur category and realise from groups like this that I have an awful lot still to learn. On the bright side, it's great that people are willing to share their accumulated knowledge and experience, so a big thanks for this. It helps to inspire us newcomers.

I mainly shoot 35mm with a Pentax MX and LX as my workhorses, but am branching out. This means getting to grips with an Ensign Selfix 820 for 6x9, and more recently a first foray into large format. Someone very kindly loaned me a Horseman monorail, and I managed to produce my first negative and contact print at the weekend. It's only a start, but I was so pleased to have got something out of the process, considering how badly wrong it could have gone. Onwards and upwards!

Interests include darkroom techniques and a penchant for cameras from the more 'senior' end of the spectrum.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your introduction., I glad you are enjoying discovering the various aspects of the film and darkroom processes. You are not alone in using “senior” cameras, I think you will find them very rewarding and just not in financial terms. One small point, would you like to give the others here a name to remember you by?

I'm really a Paul, but the username has stuck with me from various other forums (fora?)

I should also say, thanks for the welcome.

Hello Paul and another warm welcome. It's heart warming when you realise there are still quite a few film and darkroom users still at it!

Thanks all for the welcome. I have to confess to being somewhat in awe of the company I'm in, but I hope I can make a faintly useful contribution at some point.

For those that are interested, some of my stuff is here...
