Default Introduction

Hello all. I am based in Perth, Western Australia and work professionally as a self publishing landscape photographer. I finally set up my darkroom again after a hiatus of several years, mostly due to moving house, and I must admit, a delay over the concern about the future availability of some films and papers. However, I took the plunge about 5 years ago and rebuilt my B&W darkroom. Most my gear is over 20 years old, purchased second hand, although I have recently purchased some nice gear from RH Designs. I use both colour transparency film and digital for the bulk of my commercial work and with publishing get to spend more than enough time in front of a computer screen. I love the fact that all my B&W darkroom gear still performs as it should without the need for getting on the digital upgrade treadmill, leaving me to concentrate on making the image.

Hi Alex and welcome to FADU. Thanks for your introduction and it is good to hear in your professional capacity you are still using and thinking of film. I am sure you will enjoy yourself here and I look forward to your contributions to the forum.

Neil.

Welcome Alex, thanks for the intro.
Alex has forgot to mention that he has his own website, which is worth a look.

Hi Alex and welcome to FADU. It does seem as if the supply of analogue materials to Australia isn't maybe as good or extensive as here in the U.K. but I suppose that being on the other side of the world from the suppliers has its drawbacks.

Mind you, you do have better weather for photography so it's not all bad. My son spent a year travelling and working in both Australia and N.Z. and much preferred the west coast of Perth to the east side.
