Default Hello, at last...

Hello all, i have been a member for several weeks now and thought it was about time i stopped being so lazy and actually said something!

I have been hooked on photography for about three and a half years now, and am firmly stuck on the dark side, in the dark room.

Like darkclassical, music was my first calling, though popular. Since taking up photography however, i spend more time thinking about developing, printing and exposure, than new ways to blow on I VI II V.

Like many new to photography i started with a cheap digital, but after an impulse buy on ebay an old fujica STX-1 replaced it overnight. Within a few months a film scanner met the same fate, and was replaced by an enlarger.

I now use two Olympus OM's for 35mm, and a Mamiya C330f for 120. Favourite photographers include Joseph Koudelka, Cartier-Bresson, Don McCullin and many others. I live in Newcastle (stuck after university) but grew up in Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire.

I mostly use Ilford films and chemicals, lots of Delta 100, HP5+ and Microphen. Prescysol EF when i want things really fine.

Now, do i sell the Gibson to buy more film? or would that be going too far...

Hi Jim and a more formal welcome to FADU. Delighted to hear that the digital path did not run smooth And no don't sell the Gibson that's a bridge too far

Welcome aboard Jim.

Keep the Gibson - I would, even though I can't play for toffee!

Have fun, Bob.

Welcome.

And definitely keep the Gibson (or even better, trade it in for a Gretsch!).

Welcome Jim. Keep the Gibson, sell your soul to the devil, make millions in album sales then buy the film
