Hi all,
Thank you for the warm welcome! I've been busy reading up on the basics this weekend which has left me feeling a little daunted tbh,so decided to take a deep breath and break this down into managable 'chunks' e.g..

Firstly..to get real familiar with my camera over the xmas holiday (we are going away so will have plenty of time),I have downloaded the pdf manual already for it,so should be in good stead prior to unwrapping : )

Secondly..having spent some time reading up on film types on offer I think I have settled on the Ilford HP5 400+ as my starter.. would you guys agree with this choice???

Once feeling very confident knowing and using my Super ME I'll throw myself into researching development options.

Sorry if i sound like a total noob/novice! all advise welcomed gladly!
A little excited now about this journey!

Liam/OM

Hp5+ is a good choice to start with. I've just been using it again after a break and I'd forgotten how good it is. I would get a liquid concentrate developer to start as they tend to be quick and easy to mix. Ilfosol 3 is good and easily available. Good luck and I hope you enjoy making photographs.

Thanks for your input there, glad I picked a good starting film, most reviews I've read of HP5+ seem to be positive but it's nice that you can confirm that for me.
As for the developer I'd planned to go with a liquid for the reasons you've stated, had a quick google on the Ilfosol 3 and it falls nicely within my budget..so I'll take you at your word and give it a go!
Thank you again
Liam OM

edit: hi Barry and thanks : )

Welcome! Yes, HP5+ is a great overall choice. One of my favorite films.
