Bulbs
Hi!
My friend offered me his darkroom to use and while I am super excited because that was always my dream, I face a small problem. I can use it for free but I need to make few adjustments first. Main main issue is the lightning. All bulbs require replacements and my knowledge is limited to the colors. I know I need red and, orange and olive green but I do not know where to buy them. They have to be special, right? I am in London so I can either go and buy then in person or order online. Could you please help me with a brand and a good place? Thank you. |

Welcome aboard.
It depends on what the bulbs are for. Are we talking about safelight or the enlarger bulbs? If safelights, do the safelights have filters? If they do then plain white bulbs are usually the way to go - usually 15 or 25 watt but you also have to use the correct fitting - edison screw (or miniature edison screw) or bayonet. Enlarger bulbs are usually special types, typically halogen projector lamps or photoflood types - again there are a range of powers and fittings for different makes and models of enlarger. Probably best if you let us know what make and model of equipment you are referring to and we may be able to give more precise details. Cheers, Bob. |

Sounds like safe lights but it's filters/covers that change not bulbs. The OC/902 (Paterson VC) Multigrade filter Olive Brown) is the most useful as it's optimised for Variable Contrast papers and is fine with graded paper.
I have other safe-lights for specialist uses, like Direct Positive paper or RA4 Ian |
