Welcome to FADU Jim you'll find lots of interesting people here talking about "proper" photography. I'd say keep the Gibson no matter what, I was faced with a similar problem 35 years ago when I'd given up my musical carreer and needed money to buy my first cold cathode enlarger. I sold my beloved 1950's Fender Telecaster to fund the enlarger and have regretted it ever since. However, three years ago I aquired another Telecaster.
You live not too far from me, I'm on a farm in the Cheviot Hills perhaps we should arrange to meet up sometime. |

Thanks everyone!
Les, i'd love to get upto the Cheviots sometime, it's a part of the country i've never really seen - and right on my doorstep! I'll probably not sell the Gibson... an ES135. I still play quite a bit, but the Fenders get ten times more use, and have been with me longer! Jim |

JIm, the Gibson won't do you any good. Send it to me. I'll look after it.

Hi Jim and welcome. Is it the one in sunburst yellow that the late and for me much lamented John Peel used to speak of in an advert whose theme escapes me now?
