Default Greetings from The Great Basin Desert

Hello All,

I just started up with this group and thought an introduction is a good way to get started.

My father was an artist he took photo/darkroom classes from Minor White in Portland, Oregon before I was born, when I was seven years old he taught me the basics of darkroom and turned me loose in there. It's been almost fifty years since then and I have never grown tired of the magic the darkroom offers. After college I started working as a studio photographers assistant in Portland, Oregon, we did mostly catalog work with 4x5 and 8x10 cameras (Nordstrom, Nike, Adidas, etc. pretty boring stuff, but I learned so much). Twenty years ago I started out on my own doing location photography (I had to get outside!), I still do this today, but it's all digital now http://www.reynoldslocations.com . Ten years ago, right after publishing my first coffee table book "NEVADA" my wife and I moved to a very remote and very small community high in the mountains of North America's Great Basin Desert (Central Nevada) to pursue photography as art. We live in the back of an 1880 bank building, the front with its original walk-in vault is our studio and darkroom. My passion is art photography http://www.deonreynolds.com , I have been doing this since I was a child. All of my art photography is film based and of course I still do all of my own wet lab work as well as digital workflow. I also have a photography blog https://deonreynolds.wordpress.com and a travel blog https://2012sprinter.wordpress.com . This should let you know who I am and what I'm up to. I look forward to interacting with you...

Best,

Deon Reynolds

Hello, welcome to FADU a friendly place where we use film to capture what we see and feel. We share our experiences and knowledge, sometimes with a little humour thrown in to lighten the mood.

Welcome Deon. You have a great amount of photographic experience which should help us all. I just hope that we can occasionally reciprocate

Welcome to the forum Deon.

I especially like your plastic camera photos, such a contrast to the LF approach I should think.
