Default Greetings from Shefford, Beds

Good evening all.

I discovered FADU as a result of a helpful slip included with RH Designs products (my wonderful wife bought me some VERY nice presents from Dr Ross for Christmas).

Currently constructing my second darkroom and determined to have it completed before the end of the year. The first was in the loft and way too small, had no separate wet and dry areas but, worst of all, was very poorly insulated. Thus, freezing in winter and unbearably hot in summer. I struggled with it for ten years before deciding to re-do it properly. Unfortunately, this also coincided with a full-scale loft conversion so it's taken a little longer than last time ! The new one is twice the size, better in every way, and has more insulation than the underside of the Space Shuttle. It's warm in winter, even without any heating and should be cool in summer too. I hope to do a write-up for FADU in the New Year.

I started photography at University with a 2nd hand Zenith TTL (good for an upper-body workout). Since then I've progressed to a Nikon F301 (still one of my favourites - beautifully uncomplicated), F3, F100, D2X and Rollei 6008i.

Main interests are portraiture and landscapes.

Darkroom equipment includes a Kaiser System V enlarger, 16" Nova slot processor and some outstanding equipment from RH Designs (thanks Richard and Chris).

Best wishes to you all.

Hi Roger and welcome to the forum and all the best with your re-entry into the darkroom (get it - your ref. to the space shuttle and insulation ).

Welcome Roger

I also have a Kaiser Enlarger alongside my Meopta Magnifax 4.
My RH Designs F Stop Timer has been the workhorse of my darkroom for many years and I have just finished setting up the Paper Flasher 11 which was my Chrissy present.
Good luck with the construction, it's an exciting stage.

regards - Andrew (Cambs)

Welcome Roger from the neighbouring county of Northamptonshire. You certainly sound well equipped - darkroom-wise that is :
