Densitometer Light Source.
I have an old Olympus metallurgical microscope, complete with Olympus microscope camera and built in light meter plus colour temperature meter. The image can be diverted to the meter, camera or eyepiece if I remember correctly.
It came with some other equipment I purchased many years ago, and apart from trying it out once was boxed up and never used again. The light source is from above the specimen, but I could easily fit a below specimen light . Amongst my other bits is a Stouffer graduated density strip. Do I have the makings of a densitometer for testing films? Cheers.

Yes.
You don't need the Stouffer wedge. Measure the intensity of the blank film strip d0. The measure the intensity of the desired grey d1. The optical density is log(d1/d0). |
