Default 'Default' icon - what is it?

Now I know that there's going to be a most likely obvious and maybe dull answer to this, but I have only just noticed it and I now wonder what it is. A search of the forum has not yielded an answer.

What am I talking about? The tiny icon that is under the name of members on forum q and a's, to the left of the page at the top left. It looks like a tiny printed page.

I've tried to copy and paste it to show you what I mean but can't seem to do it, but it's easy to find when looking for it.

I've clicked and hovered over it and all it says is default...

Can anyone put me out of my misery?

And look there's one top left on this message, directly under my name and the next line that says 'friend'!

Good question Terry. In all my years here I have never really been conscious of this 'till you pointed it out

Interesting point Terry, it doesn't seem to do anything, whatever you do, must be there for something, but I can't for the life of me see what

Thumbs up Title: you can write something here...

'Go advanced' with your message and put something in to the 'Title:' space of your reply.

Thanks Marty but I am puzzled What would you need to put into the Title?

I fail to see its purpose

Ok, lets see if it works for me.

And yes it does.

After 'Go advanced', one can choose an 'icon' from a current list of 15, which includes 'No icon', from a box below the type box. (Hope that makes sense.)

Ah well, you learn something new every day

I knew you could do that with threads but never noticed it worked for individual comments too. Tho, like Mike, I'm struggling to see any real use.
