Thanks for the link Carl, in my view this will be a show that is worth seeing. The "blurb" in the link states that this is her first solo show in the UK but that is wrong, I saw her show "Imediate Family" in Edinburgh about 15 years ago. Some of the images in that show are quite disturbing and I remember at the time the show attracted quite a lot of criticism for its content. Hopefully, I'll get to see it on one of my trips to London.

Her work on corpses I found a struggle - but I really need to be challenged like that. Immediate Family is one of my favourite books but it is easy to see how some can jump to conclusions about exploitation. It is interesting to listen to her grown up children's views about it now - all very positive - one of her daughters is a top model now.

Went to see this exhibition today - well worth a visit, some wonderful photographs on show. My personal favourites are from her 'Immediate Family' series, some stunning images of her three, then, young children.

There are some challenging images from the series, 'What Remains'. Photographs of human corpses decaying and therefore returning to the earth.

All of the prints are large silver gelatine

Ah, London... Why so far away

Sally Mann's work is truly incredible. There's a great documentary about her, too - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_Re..._of_Sally_Mann - worth seeing!

Ony recently ordered the DVD from Amazon. Sadly only available in region 1 but I have a code free player so really looking forward to this.

The exhibition hit quite a cord with me, so much so that I returned the following day to by her book, 'Immediate Family', recently reissued by Phaidon - wonderful work.

Fantastic, indeed. I am more fond of her "What remains" series, but "Immediate family" is beautiful, too.

Default Sally Mann

Just returned from a business meeting in London and managed to see the Sally Mann exhibition. I agree that the Immediate Family images are beautiful. The 80minute documentary that plays on a continuous loop is well worth watching (saw it first on BBC4) and gives a wonderful insight into the world of a truly gifted Artist.
