Default Olympus 35SP flash

Can anyone recommend a flash (modern or older) that would be a good partner to the flashmatic system on the Olympus 35SP?
I have a grasp of the guide number issues matching those on the camera but would like a flexible flash unit on which I could dial down manual flash settings from full power to a quarter. Thankyou for any advice

I was going to suggest the Olympus T32, etc, but I don’t think they have variable power in manual. Vivitar 283 and 285 have variable power with an accessory. I use a Nikon SB28 which, although made for Nikon, has full manual down to 1/32 power. It’s quite compact. SB80 is similar, but more recent. They tilt, rotate and zoom, and have the traditional Auto setting.

I too was going to recommend a Vivitar 283. I bought a new one not that long ago at a good price, but there are also many on ebay secondhand at good prices. It's a great flash unit and it takes AA batteries.

The SB24 is a bit older than the SB28 but a lot cheaper. I has the same power output, just the SB28 had more functions to be compatible with the F100/F5 and F6. these have no use on the Olympus SP

Thankyou all for the very helpful advice. I'll check over the specs of each recommended flash and buy one.
