Thanks for the input Ian, as I can now put another chemical that I have on the 'Don't worry about it going off' list.

Maybe we should have a sticky list, of all of the chemicals that people have and use photographically, listing them accordingly, with maybe headings of: 'Lasts a lifetime'; 'Got ten years out of it'; 'Best to keep it in a tightly closed container'; 'Best to add some gas to it' etc.

According to this article phenidone would seem to have a short shelf life.
After a lifetime of mainly using readymade developers and fixers I have only come back to home brew mixes in the last two years.
There is a bit of catching up to do.

The "preserving" does however make the measuring of small amounts a lot easier.

It's never too late to learn.
