Default New Ilford paper and film!

I’ve just received an email from Ag announcing MG V RC paper and Ortho 80 film in 35mm and 120.
Exciting times!

Default Ortho 80

From the blurb ... “A wonderful new emulsion: designed for situations requiring high-resolution detail and fine grain. Its colour sensitivity is skewed towards green and blue with two benefits: landscape photography will look particularly dramatic, and the film can be handled safely under dark-red safelights for easier processing and development.

Rate at 80 under natural light and 40 under tungsten light for optimal results.”

I have been talking with a chap at Ilford who is going to look into the possibility of discounts aimed at Disabled photographers.

https://www.ilfordphoto.com/new-prod...5-120-formats/

Not quite as exciting as I had hoped given the build-up, but anything new in film and darkroom is great news!

Anyone know of any prices for the paper and film? Clearly on the paper front and depending on the demand for existing MGIV we can only expect MGIV stock to last a limited time. However unless the V paper is a clear winner over IV then it may not be worth the difference in price but we will have no choice if we want to use Ilford paper.

In terms of price increase, should there be one, the only light at the end of the tunnel would appear to be Kentmere paper( generally cheaper) of which there is no mention so I assume that the improvements of MGV do not extend to Kentmere

It will be interesting to see how Ortho sells in 135 and 120s. A lot of people might initially give it a try out of curiosity, if for no other reason but it is hardly going to be other than a niche product within what is now a niche market anyway, is it?.

I presume that the cost of producing Ortho 135 and 120 was factored in compared to expected revenue and it may be that Ortho 135 and 120 was relatively inexpensive to set-up

There have been some "long faces " on another forum already but this isn't surprising when the speculation there on the new products ranged from colour film, film much faster than D3200 and the equivalent of Kodak HIE

Tim Rudman's latest newsletter covers this too and looks like being a particularly interesting read.

Do members get any discount, I only ask because, and only as an example AG charge £69.49 for Ilford FP4 not including £4.95 for delivery £74.44

The shop in Carmarthen where I live charges £62.99 plus £4.95 = £67.94

I would want to support sponsors but £6.50 is a difference

Thanks.

Ok, thanks, I just wondered, as they are sponsors and I didn't know how that worked.

Thank you
