Default Paul Hill and Peak district

Found this;
http://exposureroom.com/members/tony...0cbdb2a28f990/

It is a trailer for a documentary about Paul Hill and his Derbyshire Landscape work. Unfortunately I do not know when, where or if the documentary has been released.

If you are not familiar with Paul Hill he produced a monograph called 'Dark peak, white peak' about 20 years ago and was/is a leading light in photographic education in Britain.

There was quite a long thread about Paul Hill and The Photographers Place early this year and can be found here.

The booking form links on the Photographer's Place site ask, "What digital Camera will you have with you?"

Yes, I know, sad isn't it. Unfortunately these sort of workshops have to cater for digital users to survive.

I don't have anything against participants using DSLR cameras or producing their images with photo-shop type software and ink-jet printers.
What annoys me is that film camera user are excluded altogether. Paul Hill was a film user himself once (perhaps he still is). Very unfair IMO.

At least this is an honest statement on what is intended. This kind of confirms my worst fears especially after re-reading the thread that Dave gave a link to. Initially Mr Shakeshaft, I think, suggested that prints would be acceptable but this can cover the "before" only. The present/after scenario has to be done on digital. Logically that has to lead to film camera exclusion.

For those of us who do not possess a digital camera or intend to use one later in the pursuit of landscape photography it would seem to be an expensive way( both in money and effort) to gain an understanding of the principles behind the landscape photographer's thoughts.

If you possess both types of camera and are adept in both media then it might make sense.

Mike
