I have some Fotospeed FX40 Alkali Fix that is at least 10 years old and it is still good.http://shop.silverprint.co.uk/Fotosp.../2710/FS03540/ Having no acid in it to break it down it is certainly long lasting.

Like Richard Gould I have never had a problem with fixer going off or even smelling of anything else but 'fixer'. One of us must be doing something to make it thus.
I limit the work 500cc does to 10 films then ditch it and ALWAYS use an acetic acid stop bath beforehand. |
