I've seen a lot of Don McCullin's work over the years and that includes his ladscapes and still lifes, a friend bought.

I find this incorrenet and quality is poor.

Ian, yes it does seem an odd mixture.
I have long been an admirer of his work, but his landscapes do seem rather dark and troubled - rather like a visual version of Alan Bennett's "Talking Heads". I have to say that at the moment I really prefer the work of someone like James Ravilious, with its silvery greys and shimmering, uplifting, sunlight.

Ian, do you mean the quality on the computer screen, or the prints themselves?

Having watched a programme about him not long ago Alan, the man himself said that he finds himself printing his landscape pictures darker each time. It's not surprising really, looking back at some of the things that he's seen and photographed in the past.
