Photography on the Norfolk Coast...
...is what I have to look forward to all of next week.
Based in Happisburgh, I'll be touring around the vicinity a bit - despite the ridiculous cost of petrol! It's an area I know reasonably well but haven't been to visit for over ten years. If anyone is around that way and fancies meeting up at some point for a shared photographic experience, a natter and/or a pub lunch (pre or post photography - post probably best!). Also, even if you can't manage a meet, suggestions for stimulating locations in that part of the world that I may not know about would be welcome. I'll mostly be shooting B&W 120 on the Hassy or Fuji 6x9, but may take the 5x4 for a change of pace.

St Benet's Abbey and the Helter-Skelter house spring to mind. Not exactly on the coast, but near enough
Also know of a house that is sinking in to the marshes that has a collection of old petrol pumps outside - It *might* be a little off the beaten track for you. If you're passing through Norwich on the way, ping me for a beer. |

Thanks Paul.
St Benet's I've visited a few times, it's a magical place. Here's a pic made on color neg from a previous visit: I didn't know of the Helter-Skelter House though, an interesting building. The house sinking into the marsh with petrol pumps has got my interest - whereabouts is that exactly? I'll probably be passing through Norwich at some ungodly hour, but thanks for the offer!

If you do go after the Helter-Skelter house, I believe the best shots are to be had from the south side of the river. As for the sinking house, that is near Horning and I'd probably get shot for advertising the exact location (I'm sure you'd understand).

If you've got time (and your own petrol refinery!) pay a visit to Thornham, on the North-west 'corner' of Norfolk. Loads of old boats, ricketty jetties, and some old posts sticking out of the mud, which I'm told were once trees growing there.
Hunstanton, a bit further round is intersting. It faces West and some good images of the cliffs can be had, given the right light and tides. If you think you may be in Kings Lynn let me know. I'm working in the mornings, but could be around for a drink one evening. Rob |

I regret that I cannot meet up with you, I have a trip planned to that part of the world, but not till late summer. With that in mind I would like to hear of any recommendations of photogenic locations that you come across, and care to share.
