Printing B&W from colour transparencies?
I have read somewhere that it is possible to make B&W prints from colour slides. I cannot find the information and wondered if you can recommend the simplest way of doing it?- Thank you Les

Hi Kenneth, sorry for the delay in replying, I've spent most of the past two days trying to get my main computer running after it crashed on me. Sadly no joy so I'll have to get it to London to my computer doctor who will no doubt fix it in 3 minutes and tell me I'm daft. I'm now catching up using my laptop.
You've presented me with a situation that I've never been in, that is making a black and white print from a colour transparency. I can only suggest that you copy the transparency using black and white film to produce your negative. There are several copying methods available but by far the best is the Bowens copier which was quite expensive in the past but can now be picked up quite cheaply, perhaps £50. There are two models the one I'd suggest is the de-luxe model that has a contrast control facility that would be essential for making black and white copies. There are also slide copiers that fit your camera like a lens, they a very cheap but the results are likely to be poor. I guess you get what you pay for. Best of luck and please let us know how you get on. |

Thank you Les. It seems that either way is quite challenging and I am unsure I am up to it right now but Thank you again
