Is it a new camera or an old one with a new set of clothes? I have seen comparative pictures of the 'new' Ihagee and a Russian Kiev 19. The shutter range is identical, quitethe limited, by today's standards of 1sec to 1/500. The external body on both have the same switch gear, especially a plastic 'lump' just to the right of the prism.

My sceptic antennae are working overtime...... Beep. Beep. Beeep. Beeeeep. Beeeeeeep! Overload...Overload!

If you go to the Photrio Forum and search for Ihagee or Kiev 19 the pictures are there

John, I think that the German involvement and the fact that it's a new Ukrainian company would indicate that the camera would be a serious upgrade in terms of quality.

An example would be the Exacta 66 which was basically a rebuilt Pentacon 6. Now the Ukrainians were doing similar work on the MF Kiev's rebuilding some of them with stronger parts, removing the flaws.

So I'm a lot less sceptical than you.

Ian

Apart from the appearance, why the limited shutter speeds of 1 sec to 1/500, the lack is hardly going to be a selling point. Whilst it is enough for most cases the omission of a shorter top speed and a longer slow one will put a lot o people off buying it.

The Nikon mount on the original Kiev 19 also gave problems with the lens mount which could not be rectified.

Then there is the place it is going to be made. Ukraine is not exactly the most stable of counties. Will the supply of spares and information be forth coming.

Sorry, scepticism is still high on my agenda

Well, it is just a Kiev 19. Well, though the nice wooden handle could do something good, like the Hasselblad Lunar did for the equivalent by Sony for 4x the price.

Cheers, Frank
