Default Having a Clearout at Ag - De Vere 108 10x10!

Just thought we would mention this - anyone who has ever visited us will have seen the amazing De Vere 108 enlarger at our premises. We are having a clear out of items we, realistically, wont use. It's been fun having it here for the last 3 years, but it's just in the way as we need the space for improved stock management etc.

(besides we still have a 10x8 horizontal, 507 x2, 504 etc....I think we have enough enlargers!)

So it's gone onto Ebay, 99p start and hopefully it will find a good home. so if anyone has the space.....I'm more interested in it going to a good home where it will get some use - if it makes some cash, all the better, but really it's a legendary enlarger.

Matt, your thread suggests you have had, for sometime, used darkroom/ second hand stock - why do you never show this on your website ? It always says that there is nothing available.

Second hand isn't something we have ever got into - we have acquired a lot of enlargers over the last 3 years - but most of these will be for our own use either in the workshops or for use in the lab.

But the DeVere 108 is just one too many.....! and it's been in the stock room and I want to improve the flow of this room for more efficient picking of orders.

Matt what a wonderful thing if I had the room I would bite your arm off, if I would ever use it to its full capability is very unlikely but what a beast for printing up my 35mm negs ,like everything to do with film photography you have to admire the workmanship in the thing ...

They run on rails attached to the floor, which are about 3m long (although you could probably get away with less). The unit itself is about 2ft wide by 4ft long by 4ft6 tall. There is a remote control for "driving" it along the rails and adjusting focus.

In the end the 108 sold to someone from the Royal College of Art - which is great news - I was worried someone might buy it to scrap it or for some non-photographic purpose!

Great news that it is going to a good home!

Cheers, Bob.

Yes - although when I first saw "Royal College of Art" two things ran through my mind:

either

1. they are a photographer and need a big enlarger; or

2. they are going to use it in some sort of modern art installation where it gets blown up with explosives in some symbolic way

Thankfully, it's the former....
