Default Zeiss Ikoflex mirror

An acquaintance in the UK is looking to get a new mirror for a recently purchased Ikoflex TLR. Does anyone know of a source in the UK for such a part? Or a resilvering service perhaps?

Many thanks in advance!

Scientific Mirrors/Vacuum Coatings Ltd will make or re-silver a mirror. Actually Aluminium is used these days and lasts a lot longer.

I usually have a new mirror, but they will also re-silver an old mirror, stripping the silver off first in a Nitric acid bath.

Hi, I am Ikoflex guy. Thanks for the link. Re mirroring the glass is the plan. Its quite cheap too. As an interim measure I bought some sticky backed acrylic mirrors which are 1mm thick so I stuck two together for added rigidity, cut it to size, popped it in and I am staggered by how well it worked. There is a barely perceptible amount of distortion but as a stop gap it is perfect

Just to let you know, they have my mirror as we speak and I am staggered by how cheap they are. Thanks for this

That's great to hear Pete. Enjoy the camera. You should get some wonderful images out of it.

It is lovely, although it will get a bit more rest as i just bought a yashica mat We are building up a dossier on printing on 120 film. You will be glad to know that Rollei retro 400s has lovely bold print that can actually be read through a red window.

Good to know about Rollei films. I used my new (to me) Ikonta folder this weekend with Tri-X, and the red window was no problem at all....as long as the light was good, that is.

Congrats on the Yashicamat. Careful about those TLRs - they can become addicting . Before you know it you'll have five of them.
