Default Adox CHSII 100 - in transit to us now!

Just thought I would give some pre-notification to FADU before we send our marketing emails next week, than we have the NEW Adox CHSII film in transit to us - initially in 35mm and 5x4" formats.

The good news is that prices are set to be not all that far off FP4 level. I had feared that being a new German made product prices were going to be Delta sort of level or even more.

Cant wait to road test it!

Thanks Matt!
I would like to ask you a question about pricing: Fotoimpex in Germany, the owners of the ADOX brand, are selling CHS 100 II 135-36 for Eur4.64 (same price as Silvermax), which the currency converter tells me is about £3.88. You are selling it at £4.98. Quite a difference there. Is that the transport from Germany to here?

Suddenly, Ilford prices aren't looking that high any more!

It could be transport costs but I'll bet by the time it's been transported all the way from Germany to the US it will somehow, magically, have become cheaper than it is here...

When I've ordered from Germany parcels have arrived in under 24 hrs.

25 sheets 5"x4" Adox CHS II is 29 euros (£24.29) from Fotoimpex, Delta 100 is 49.25 euros (£41.25) slightly higher than the £38.53 I pay in the UK.

I'm not so sure about US prices as Freestyle are selling Silvermax for $7.99 (about £4.95). It is that Adox prices are all over the place.

Freestyle seem to sell their re-branded Foma films at around the same as EU prices of the films, but then these films are already very significantly cheaper than Ilford, nearly 1/3 of the UK price for LF films.

It pays to check all options now when buying films and papers.

It's always irked me that we get ripped off in the UK in so many many ways. I bought a Pentax DSLR and four lenses from the US six years ago and saved a packet. I sold that outfit a while back and lost very little in the deal.

Maybe it's dearer than we think to make a new film and local taxes/VAT account for all the different prices?

Even allowing for taxes Ilford and Kodak films are very significantly cheaper in the US compared to the EU. It costs very little to post film US to the UK and there's still a significant saving even paying the duty & VAT.

Thanks Phil. I'm a bit gobsmacked that my wee review was the first on the web. Made me feel like a pioneer or something. 😄
