Default Photographers rights at an end?

I really don't know what to make of this?

IMO Its all extremely bad news for photographers (and internet users) Trevor.

It is forcing internet providers to police the copyright of downloads at our cost whilst seemingly condoning the misuse of our images.

It will all end in a

Let's hope this gets chucked out by the sensible people in the Lords

That's not very helpful. Having read through a load of digi-talk I still can't see it.

Reading the links it seems they have already noded it through.
Heard a quote that Mandelson was pure poison, not what I would call him but anglo saxon is not appropiate here.

It would appear this government is intent on removeing the rights of photographers in this country, one can only assume it is to remove the scrutiny that could hold them to account. Though I do not expect any change if there is a change of administration. Sceptic that I am I fear government of any colour will hold hard to these new powers though they are unspecified at this time and seem to be whatever is decided on the day by themselves.

Interestinly the proposed restrictions on photographers will not apply to their own systems of CCTV etc.
Whisper it quietly but it would seem that the Digital Economy bill would not apply to film images only to their faximalies when posted on digital media which should hopefuly make copyright indesputable.

Paul.

Have another look. It says A and B in bold and B says you can't photograph in public but I can't find it anywhere else. So I suspect that B has been put there just to get everyones attention to the digital nonsense unless someone can find an actual reference in the Bill.

That's what I thought having struggled through the gobbledegook that is supposed to be a Parliamentary Bill. It seems to be move to do with television broadcasters than proper photography.
